Logan Glass Auto Glass Frequently Asked Questions

Have an auto glass-related question? We have the answer. Check out these FAQs and give us a call today for more information!
  • How long does auto glass repair or replacement take?

A rock chip repair can be done in 30 minutes or less.  If there is moisture in the crack it is recommended to wait until the crack is dry before repairing, therefore the repair may take longer for the drying process.  A windshield replacement takes about one and a half hours. However, if you need calibration you should plan for a two-hour appointment.

  • Can I wash my car after a windshield replacement?

It is recommended that you do not go through a car wash for at least 24 hours after a windshield replacement.  It is recommended that you wait for the urethane seal to dry.  The high pressure of a car wash can affect the urethane seal before it has had time to completely cure.  If you must wash your car, a hand wash is fine, as long as you don’t use a high-pressure hose.  Don’t worry about rain or snow water as this will not affect the seal of your new windshield.

  • How soon can I drive after a windshield replacement?

We use a fast-cure urethane that has a safe drive-away time of 30 minutes. We include this time in your windshield replacement appointment.  After the dry time, the windshield can handle normal driving conditions.  However, it is recommended to wait 24 hours before taking it on long trips or driving over rough terrain.

  • How big of a rock chip or crack can be repaired before it needs to be replaced?

Many factors go into repairing a rock chip, including placement, the size of the impact, and the size of the cracks. Most cracks 6” or less can be repaired, and star breaks up to 3” in diameter are repairable. With our Windshield repair walk-in policy, you can stop by during our business hours, and we can inspect the chip and complete the repair if necessary without an appointment.

  • What type of glass is used for my windshield replacement?

You can choose between Original Equipment (OE or Dealer) auto glass or aftermarket glass.  Most of our glass is manufactured by PGW, Fuyao, or Pilkington.  When calling in we usually quote from these manufacturers.  If you prefer OE glass, we are happy to get a quote and install dealer glass.

  • Do you offer calibration?

Yes, we can calibrate many vehicles. We offer dynamic, static, and dual calibrations. Our technicians are ADAS certified and have performed over 1800 calibrations.

  • Why does my car’s camera need to be calibrated?

If your vehicle is equipped with a forward-facing camera to assist with an Advanced Driver’s Assistance System, such as lane departure warning, lane keep assist, or forward collision alert, it is recommended that you have your vehicle calibrated. During the windshield replacement process, the camera is removed and installed on the new bracket. If the camera is out of alignment, these features will not perform properly.

  • Do you offer a warranty?

We warranty the workmanship of any auto glass replacement from any air leaks or water leaks.  We warranty the glass from any distortion, defects, delamination, or stress cracks for the first 30 days.

If a rock chip fails during or after repair will refund the money to you or your insurance company or apply it to a new windshield replacement.

  • Does my insurance cover the cost to replace the windshield?

Most insurances will cover the cost of auto glass replacement if you have comprehensive coverage.  You will only be responsible for the deductible.

  • How often should I replace my wiper blades?

In our colder climate, it is recommended to replace your blades every 6-12 months.  You should replace your windshield wiper blades if you notice streaking,or  a chattering noise, or if you notice any damage to the rubber.
